Medical Marijuana in Utah
Federal and Utah Medical Marijuana Laws are full of controversy. Utah Proposition 2 has been controversial since the lawmakers decided to ignore the will of the people and modified Proposition 2 with their own bill, Senate Bill 161. This is the House version here. This LINK provides a comparison of Proposition 2 that was voted upon by the citizens and the House bill 3001 changes. There are a variety of laws enacted and soon be enacted in various States. Federal marijuana laws and legislation will be covered since there are current bills in review for passage that could change the classification of Marijuana from a Schedule 1 drug to a classification that would encourage further medical studies. There is an open bill-H.R.3884 – Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2019 that should be voted upon in Late September of 2020. Passage of this would change the Federal Classification from Sch 1 to Sch 2. It is a start that is needed, and some say it is only a partial move. Here is the link-HR 3884
